Fertilize Indian mallow
To obtain a florid development it is important to remember to fertilize our shrubs periodically; in the spring let’s use a fertilizer rich in nitrogen and potassium, which will favour the development of new vegetation and of flowerings. We can intervene at the end of the winter, mixing a good dose of slow release organic fertilizer to the soil surrounding our plant. During the spring it is also possible to act periodically, with liquid or powder fertilizers, to add to the water when irrigating, every 20-25 days.

Water Indian mallowTenere asciutto
Let's water abundantly, moistening the soil deeply with 1-2 buckets of water , but let's act only when the substratum is dry, leaving it dry even for 2-3 weeks before watering it. If we decide to grow a specimen of the Indian mallow in a container, we should remember that it will have slightly different needs compared to a specimen grown in the ground: we should pay more attention to its water and nutritional needs and check more often for possible development of parassites.

Light Indian mallowSole pieno
When the minimum temperatures are very low we can protec the more sensible brushes by covering their roots with dry leaves or straw. The Indian mallow should be preferably located in a place where it can have at least a few hours a day of direct solar light. These plants are rustic in the areas with a Mediterranean climate, therefore they can be grown outside.

Pests Indian mallow
As the day-time temperatures rise at the beginning of the spring, it is agreeable to practice a preventive treatment, with a wide-range insecticide, which should be applied when there aren’t flowerings in the garden. Before the buds become too large, it is advisable to also treat them with a wide-range fungicide, to prevent the development of fungal diseases which spread easily when there is an elevated environmental moisture.
