Guava Psidium guajava

Guava I like the article

Light GuavaPosizione mezza ombra
We suggest growing the the Guava in a place where it's sheltered by frost; when all dangers of late freezings are gone we can locate them outdoors. Young specimens, which have been planted for little time, usually are ensured by a stake, which keeps the stem erect; during the winter letís protect the young plants covering the area near the roots with dry leaves or straw. It prefers partially shady locations, where it can be reached by the solar rays only during the coolest hours of the day.

Cultivation Guava
The Guava develops like a tree. This plant in the spring assumes a white colouring; it is small in size and can reach 3 m high. It keeps its leaves in the winter. They tend to develop like erect small trees.

Fertilize Guava
As the beautiful season arrives letís enrich our soil near our fruit plants, planting a good quantity of mature organic fertilizer, or some granular slow release fertilizer or earthworm humus.

Water GuavaTenere Umido
The Guava Needs regular watering, but we suggest letting the soil dry between one watering and the other; let's take action every 2-3 weeks , remembering to water the substratum well with 1-2 buckets of water . To avoid that the watering and fertilizing for our fruit plants get absorbed by other plants, we suggest to clean the soil from the infesting plants, periodically, even by simply using a hoe.

Pests Guava
The spring weather, with a high temperature swing between the day and night hours, and pretty frequent rains, can favour the development of fungus diseases, which should be treated pre-emptively with a systemic fungicide, to use before the gems grow excessively; at the end of the winter we also suggest a wide range insecticide to prevent the attack of aphids and cochineals. We should always remember to do these treatments when there aren't flowerings in the garden.

Mold Guava
These fruit plants need an averagely humid soil, not too drained.
