Plant which needs at least a few hours a day of sunlight. The Elephant-ear can bear minimum temperatures a few degrees below zero; in general during the Spring it would be grown outdoors without any problems, but if the harsh temperatures should go down it is advised to cover it with non-woven fabric. These plants lose the aerial part during the coldest months of the year. As spring begins, stems and leaves quickly start to reproduce.

Irrigation Elephant-earTenere asciutto
Watering takes place only when the soil has been dry for days, usually every 1-2 weeks can be enough; if the climate is particularly hot we can slightly intensify the irrigations, using 2-3 glasses of water . Perennial plants are subject to some months of vegetational rest. During these months it isn't necessary to water them.

Adversity Elephant-ear
Generally during this time of year we suggest a pre-emptive treatment with wide range insecticide and with a systemic fungicide, to prevent the attack from part of the aphids and the development of fungus diseases, often favoured by a mild and damp climate.

Substrate Elephant-ear
We suggest a substratum characterized by an excellent drainage.
