The Lachenalia should be preferably located in a place where it can have at least a few hours a day of direct solar light. If you desire cleaning the ground from the bulbous plants after flowering, wait for the leaves to dry; later it’s possible to take the bulbs out of the ground and place them somewhere dark, cool and dry, until the best season to plant them again.The Lachenalia can't stand cold weather, therefore in general it should be grown in a sheltered place; during the Spring months, when the minimum temperatures are above zero, it can be moved outside.

The Lachenalia has a panel-like development, therefore it tends to widen very much. This plant in the winter assumes a yellowred colouring; it is small in size and can reach 25 cm high. It doesn't keep its leaves in the winter. These plants are bulbeous.

Let’s use a slow release fertilizer, or manure, when planting, mixing the product to the ground; during the spring let’s mix, every 15-20 days, a specific fertilizer for bulbous plants to our irrigation water, starting from the moment in which the first flowers are withering.
Water Lachenalia
Let's water abundantly, moistening the soil deeply with 1-2 glasses of water , but let's act only when the substratum is dry, leaving it dry even for 1-2 weeks before watering it. We suggest not to exceed with the waterings: if the soil remains damp too long, it can favour the development of rotten in the bulbs.
Pests Lachenalia
As the day-time temperatures rise at the beginning of the spring, it is agreeable to practice a preventive treatment, with a wide-range insecticide, which should be applied when there aren’t flowerings in the garden. Before the buds become too large, it is advisable to also treat them with a wide-range fungicide, to prevent the development of fungal diseases which spread easily when there is an elevated environmental moisture.
